3 Tips for the Introverted Highly Sensitive Parent
“All Highly Sensitive People are Introverts” - True or False?
False! While about 70% of Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) are also introverts, about 30% are extraverts.
Quick definition: Introverts draw energy from spending time on their own, and can become depleted in lengthy or chaotic social situations. HSP Introverts in particular may feel very uncomfortable in situations that require "small talk" or putting on a social filter.
For me as an HSP Introvert, attending a babywearing meetup after having my first child felt so draining and awkward. I didn't know anybody, the room was crowded and loud with babies and their parents, and small talk was essential. I eventually stopped going after I realized that I wasn't benefiting, and in fact, attending was causing me anxiety.
