Am I an HSP?

If you’re just learning about the trait of High Sensitivity, welcome! HSPs (Highly Sensitive People) make up about 20% of the world’s population and are represented more or less equally across genders and cultures. The HSP trait is not a mental health issue or diagnosis, but rather a unique way that your brain and body process information and experience the world around you. The HSP trait, as described by HSP researcher Elaine Aron, Ph.D., can be described using the acronym DOES:

If you resonate with these experiences, welcome! Our goal at Highly Sensitive Parenthood is to help you celebrate the many gifts that your sensitivity offers to you and those in your life, while helping you navigate the tricky waters of overstimulation and overwhelm.

To learn even more about the trait of High Sensitivity, visit Dr. Elaine Aron’s website hsperson.com - Dr. Aron coined the term HSP and has pioneered research around and awareness of High Sensitivity for decades. You can also take a Self-Assessment to identify your HSP traits.
